Description We are looking for a dedicated Permit Specialist to join our team in El Segundo, California. In this Contract-to-permanent position, you will play a central role in coordinating and managing the permit approval process for architectural projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations and codes. This is an excellent opportunity to work collaboratively with city agencies, design teams, and consultants while advancing your career in permitting and entitlement.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the submission and approval process for permits related to architectural projects.
• Collaborate with city agencies such as planning departments and public works to facilitate and expedite approvals.
• Review architectural drawings to ensure they meet permit requirements and adhere to applicable codes.
• File applications for entitlements, plan checks, corrections, clearances, and related packages.
• Address correction notices by coordinating revisions with design teams and consultants.
• Maintain accurate records of permit submissions, approvals, and communications with city agencies.
• Attend hearings, consultations, and meetings with city staff to resolve any permitting issues.
• Build relationships with expeditors, plan check engineers, and city representatives to streamline processes.
• Stay informed about updates to zoning ordinances, codes, and agency procedures. Requirements • 2–5+ years of experience in permitting, entitlement, or code consulting, preferably with an architectural background.
• Proven success in navigating permitting processes within Southern California jurisdictions.
• Solid understanding of zoning codes, Title 24, and relevant compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in permit tracking systems, Microsoft Office, and markup tools.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to attend in-person meetings with city agencies.
• Familiarity with financial systems, calendar management, and CRM tools is a plus.
• Experience with building permits and budgeting processes is highly desirable. TalentMatch®
