Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of our construction projects in Midlothian, Virginia. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing budgets, and supporting data-driven decision-making. This position requires a strong understanding of construction accounting practices, compliance standards, and effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Monitor construction project costs and compare them to budgets, providing insights to identify areas for cost savings.
• Develop and maintain budgets for construction projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice management, payments, and collections.
• Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and contractual obligations while managing project risks.
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and auditors to provide financial insights and updates.
• Forecast cash flow requirements for various projects and overall business operations.
• Streamline accounting processes and implement financial system improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Support senior leadership by delivering data-driven financial recommendations.
• Manage insurance and bonding requirements associated with construction projects. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is preferred.
• Proven experience in construction accounting or cost management is essential.
• Familiarity with construction software such as Procore or Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate is highly desirable.
• Strong expertise in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and auditing processes.
• Proficiency in using financial services platforms such as ADP.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and oversee financial reporting processes.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills to support effective collaboration across teams.
