Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Entry-Level Accountant to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. This is a long-term contract position in the financial services industry, offering an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in accounting and compliance. The ideal candidate will investigate financial transactions, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute to maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities:

• Investigate financial alerts generated by transaction monitoring systems to identify unusual patterns or suspicious activities.

• Analyze transactional behavior against expected norms and address inconsistencies through thorough research.

• Conduct follow-ups on flagged transactions and perform due diligence to verify their legitimacy.

• Document findings comprehensively and prepare reports for senior compliance staff or regulatory authorities.

• Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary information for customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence processes.

• Stay updated on current financial regulations and apply them effectively in daily operations.

• Participate in regular training sessions to remain informed about evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards.

• Work with technical teams to optimize transaction monitoring systems for better efficiency and accuracy. Requirements • Familiarity with accounting software systems and their functionalities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to use advanced formulas.

• Strong critical thinking skills to analyze financial data effectively.

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant computer tools.

• Ability to handle high-volume numeric and alphanumeric data entry with precision.

• Knowledge of banking software and its application in financial operations.

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow regulatory guidelines.

• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
