Description
Our oil and gas client is seeking a skilled Revenue Accountant with expertise in OGSYS software to join their accounting team. This role is crucial in managing and analyzing revenue streams, processing royalty payments, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of oil and gas revenue accounting, including joint interest billing (JIB), production allocations, and tax reporting, as well as hands-on experience with OGSYS.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Process monthly oil and gas revenue through OGSYS, ensuring proper allocations at the lease and property levels (Source: Finance and Accounting Professionals in Highest Demand).
+ Reconcile production volumes and revenue received from oil and gas sales to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
+ Calculate and remit royalty payment obligations, severance taxes, and other revenue disbursements to owners, including working interest and royalty interest parties
+ Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve reporting issues in OGSYS, leveraging the software for maximum efficiency in revenue tracking and reporting.
+ Assist with compliance reporting for regulatory agencies such as ONRR (Office of Natural Resources Revenue) and state-specific bodies to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to legal standards.
+ Provide reports and documentation to internal and external auditors during financial or operational audits.
+ Collaborate with production accounting, operations, and land teams to collect and verify data for accurate property-level revenue reporting.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Equivalent experience in oil and gas accounting may be considered.
Experience:
+ Minimum 3–5 years of experience in revenue accounting, with emphasis on oil and gas operations.
+ Hands-on experience with OGSYS software is required.
+ Exposure to joint interest billing (JIB) and production accounting is preferred.
Skills:
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas) and other accounting tools.
+ Strong understanding of oil and gas accounting standards, including SEC guidelines and GAAP.
+ Outstanding problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
Preferred Experience
+ Experience reconciling complex accounts and working with royalty owners and external stakeholders.
+ Knowledge of state and federal oil and gas tax regulations.
+ Familiarity with energy-specific accounting methodologies and software outside of OGSYS.
