Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our client's team on a long-term contract basis in Saint Paul, Minnesota. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices, maintaining vendor relationships, and supporting our operational accounting needs. This position requires a strong commitment to accuracy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Review and verify invoices to ensure proper documentation and approval before processing payments.

• Accurately allocate expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice and expense reports.

• Differentiate and process invoices with and without purchase orders appropriately.

• Organize and distribute incoming mail for accounts payable processing.

• Prioritize invoices based on payment terms and organizational needs.

• Prepare month-end accruals for invoices that are pending processing or approval.

• Reconcile vendor statements, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues in a timely manner.

• Respond promptly and accurately to vendor and internal inquiries related to accounts payable.

• Maintain thorough and organized documentation in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

• Assist with bi-monthly preparation and processing of integration supply files.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in accounts payable or a related field.

• An associate degree in accounting or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Familiarity with working in a decentralized, multi-state organization.

• Proficiency in Great Plains software, as well as Microsoft Outlook and Excel.

• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

• High attention to detail and ability to analyze and resolve discrepancies effectively.

• Comprehensive knowledge of accounts payable procedures, general ledger systems, and financial chart of accounts.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with field operations and vendors to achieve organizational goals.
