• Field Service Technician I

    Robert Half Technology (Detroit, MI)


    Description

    We are looking for a dedicated Field Service Technician I to join our team in Detroit, Michigan. This long-term contract position involves providing customer support by installing, testing, and repairing complex equipment and systems. The role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures and policies while maintaining excellent customer service.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Configure, operate, and maintain hand-held portable computers, desktop systems, servers, and wireless networks in an industrial manufacturing environment.

    + Demonstrate expertise in Windows operating systems management (Linux familiarity is beneficial).

    + Utilize Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with proficiency.

    + Exhibit familiarity with vehicle diagnostics and fault codes.

    + Understand vehicle electrical and electronic systems

    + Interface with all levels of a corporate hierarchy, including management and engineering groups, to address systems and product performance.

    + Contribute to virtual and interpersonal collaboration with vehicle engineering and tooling engineering teams to resolve unusual system operational issues through structured problem analysis and troubleshooting.

    + Maintain a clean and organized working environment.

    + Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and self-motivation while performing under pressure.

    + Display traits such as patience, tactfulness, diplomacy, and a positive mindset.

    + Flexibility with scheduling.

    + Potential for occasional travel

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    Must-Have Skills:

    + Strong experience in vehicle diagnostics, fault codes, vehicle electrical systems, and electronics.

    + Solid knowledge of Windows operating systems (Linux familiarity is a plus).

    + Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

    Education:

    A Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology is preferred but not mandatory.
