Robert Half Marketing & Creative is looking for a UX Director for one of our clients in Charlotte, NC! This position is a hybrid contract opportunity.
About the Role:
We are seeking a strategic, visionary, and hands-on UX Director to lead and scale our User Experience team. As a key member of the product leadership group, you will be responsible for shaping the overall UX strategy, leading a team of designers and researchers, and delivering exceptional experiences that delight users and drive business success. The ideal candidate combines deep user empathy, design excellence, and cross-functional leadership to bring our digital experiences to life.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
+ Define and evangelize the UX vision, strategy, and standards aligned with company goals.
+ Manage, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary UX team including product designers, researchers, and UX writers.
+ Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to ensure consistent user-centric design across all touchpoints.
Design Excellence
+ Oversee the design process from discovery to delivery—ensuring intuitive, accessible, and delightful user experiences.
+ Establish and enforce best practices in user research, usability testing, interaction design, and visual design.
+ Champion the use of design systems and scalable processes to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
+ Partner with executive stakeholders to influence product strategy and prioritize initiatives based on user insights and business goals.
+ Work with data, research, and product analytics teams to incorporate quantitative and qualitative insights into the design process.
Team Development
+ Attract, retain, and grow top UX talent through coaching, career development, and performance management.
+ Foster a culture of feedback, continuous improvement, and innovation.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ 8+ years of experience in UX or product design, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
+ Proven track record of leading UX teams in a fast-paced, agile environment.
+ Strong portfolio showcasing design thinking, user-centered processes, and successful product outcomes.
+ Expertise in modern design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe CC, etc.) and familiarity with design systems.
+ Excellent communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
+ Deep understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design.
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, HCI, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
