Reporting to the Director of Business Career Services, the Employer Engagement Specialist supports the office’s mission of preparing students for lifelong career success through customized coaching, competency-focused teaching, experience-based learning, and connectivity with industry.
The Employer Engagement Specialist will establish strategic and mutually beneficial relationships with industry partners to increase the number of quality opportunities available for Ivy students. This specific role will focus on expanding Ivy’s reach beyond Iowa. As such, this role will involve a large amount of regional travel (Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas) and some nationwide travel.
The ideal candidate will be a highly relational communicator who is diligent in preparation, execution, and follow-through. The selected individual must be an organized collaborator who takes the initiative, is detail oriented, and values continuous improvement.
Example Duties:
+ Generate leads and cultivate relationships with new employers as well as maintain successful relationships with ongoing partners
+ Equip employers with strategies to enhance their on-campus presence and strengthen their talent pipelines
+ Foster collaboration with departments across the college and university with shared interests (Ivy Industry Engagement, other Career Services offices, ISU Alumni Association, ISU Foundation, etc.)
+ Represent the team at college, university, and community events
+ Coordinate networking and skill building events (guest speakers, mixers, lunch and learns, small- and large-scale career fairs, interview days, etc.)
+ Provide logistical support to discipline-specific programs within the college which involve employers
+ Plan career-related treks for students which include industry tours and engagement with professionals
+ Become a proficient user of CyHire, Iowa State University’s career services platform – review new employer registrations, approve internships and jobs, build career events, and track interactions with employers
+ Stay current on recruiting and other labor-related trends through involvement with professional associations
Additional Information:
+ Position Type: Full-time, Professional and Scientific.
+ Location: On-site at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa (travel required).
+ Residency Requirement: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
+ This position will be hired into the Career Services Specialist II job profile.
