    General Summary

    The Mobile Operations Leader I will be responsible for the successful execution of small-scale mobile blood drives consisting of one vehicle only (box truck or mobile bus).

     

    The Leader I will ensure the collection of safe, pure and potent blood products while ensuring the delivery of an exceptional donor experience.

     

    The position is responsible for providing the daily work instruction and feedback to ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) are followed.

    Provide world class customer service by capturing and being responsive to the voice of the customer (internal or external, including donors for select positions) through multiple feedback channels in order to resolve issues and drive satisfaction in accordance with the BBG customer engagement, feedback, and complaint processes.

     

    It is essential that the incumbent have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old with a good driving record to meet organization driving standards.

     

    Major Duties and Responsibilities

    Essential Tasks

    Exhibit a positive leadership role for staff.

     

    Ensure the delivery of an exceptional donation experience.

     

    Maintain a good working relationship with co-workers.

     

    Effectively establish rapport with the blood drive sponsor through professional representation of the blood center.

     

    Provide specific work direction to team members, monitor the collection operations, and deliver feedback on performance.

     

    Assist in the unloading, setting up, taking down and reloading of mobile equipment.

     

    Ensure that the quality control function has been appropriately performed and documented IAW SOP.

     

    Ensure that donor eligibility is appropriately determined through comprehensive medical history interview, medical screening procedures (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, Hgb/Hct via finger stick).

     

    Ensure all necessary records are legible, accurate and complete.

     

    Perform donor registration, screening, phlebotomy, automated collections, donor care, record review, product packing, quality control and data entry procedures.

     

    Prevent, assess and treat adverse donor reactions.

     

    Transport mobile staff and operational supplies in designated motor vehicles, including box trucks and mobile buses.

     

    Maintain a good working relationship with Manager including reporting issues relating to donors, donor groups, or departmental operations.

     

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Non-Essential Tasks

    Provide assistance to other departments as needed.

    Education

    Requires a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.

     

    Prefer one or more years of medical education.

     

    Licenses and/or Certifications

     

    Valid United States Driver’s License

     

    Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.

     

    Must complete required driver’s training, including operation of box trucks and mobile buses.

     

    Certification as a Medical Assistant and/or Donor Phlebotomy Technician preferred

    Experience

    Requires one year as a Donor Care Specialist.

     

    Knowledge

     

    Must display a working knowledge of medical terminology.

     

    Must acquire knowledge of effective leadership techniques.

     

    Must maintain knowledge of and perform according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.

     

    Must maintain knowledge of cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and regulatory requirements concerning donor suitability criteria, test reporting, donor deferral, and donor reentry protocol.

     

    Must acquire a working knowledge of donor processing criteria.

     

    Must be or become familiar with the community and area serviced.

     

    Skills

     

    Must be capable of operating motor vehicles in all types of weather conditions.

     

    Must demonstrate competency in performing donor registration, screening, compliance checks, phlebotomy, automated collections, donor safety, managing donor reactions, providing donor care, product packing, quality control and data entry.

     

    Must be capable of determining daily blood drive production capacity and having production flow-based conversations.

     

    Must have strong computer skills.

     

    Must have strong customer service skills.

     

    Must have excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills to effectively communicate with donors, staff and blood drive coordinators.

     

    Must be able to print and write legibly.

     

    Abilities

     

    Must be a team player.

     

    Must be able to keep information confidential.

     

    Must be neat in appearance and well groomed.

     

    Must be professional, organized, detail oriented, communicative, and have the ability to greet the public in a friendly and courteous manner.

     

    Must develop the ability to provide tactful work direction and accurate feedback on performance to assigned staff members.
