Become an Engineering Manager, Distribution Engineering Automation Hardware at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting all aspects of Distribution Engineering Automation, leading the Hardware Automation Engineering team, including contract engineers, with a focus on safety, productivity, and advancing automation devices and real-time operations. This position is vital for enhancing the safety, reliability, and operations of the distribution system, directly impacting strategic objectives. The manager will support exciting Grid Modernization efforts, such as Field Area Network (FAN), Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), and DER Management. By managing automation devices, the role aims to improve reliability, customer satisfaction, and wildfire mitigation efforts, ensuring the security of the grid. Responsibilities
+ Leads a select set of engineering and business initiatives to develop grid strategies, determine how the grid is planned, designed, operated, and maintained to operationalize company's strategy
+ Develops and maintains a project portfolio management system to prioritize projects, allocate resources, and monitor performance
+ Evaluates new technologies and methodologies to enhance project efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability, designing and implementing improvement projects and new systems to support site initiatives and improve operational efficiency
+ Establishes and maintains relationships with external partners, vendors, and contractors to support project delivery and innovation
+ Coaches engineering teams on professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge
+ Leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy, technology and safety program to ensure company advancement toward future vision and the well-being of employees and contractors involved in engineering projects
+ Manages the engineering team that provides emergent and routine trouble-shooting support for plant technical needs. Manages various contract engineers and works with those individuals to ensure consistency and quality in design, delivery milestone dates, and cost
+ Leads the design and implementation of new equipment and cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety, reliability, and throughput
+ Develops goals for engineering team and assigns projects/roles to employees that translate Sr. Manager levels goals into actionable tasks
+ A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Five or more years of combined experience performing or supervising engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field
+ Professional Engineer (PE) certification or the ability to obtain it within a specified time.
+ Specialized certifications in automation or power systems engineering.
+ Experience in project management, including budgeting and scheduling.
+ Proven track record of leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
+ A passion for innovation and implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance system reliability and performance.
Additional Information
+ This position’s work mode is **hybrid.** The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

+ The primary work location for this position is Santa Ana. However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time in the field.
+ Position will require up to 10% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
+ This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
+ Relocation does not apply to this position.
