    Job Title: Supplier Quality EngineerJob Description

     

    The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) plays a critical role in ensuring that products and materials sourced from suppliers adhere to quality standards. This position involves evaluating and selecting suppliers, developing quality assurance protocols, conducting audits, and monitoring performance metrics. The SQE is responsible for resolving quality issues, collaborating on continuous improvement initiatives, and training suppliers on quality processes to maintain supply chain integrity and ensure the reliability and safety of the final product.

    Responsibilities

    + Interface with engineering disciplines and with customers and suppliers on quality-related issues.

    + Lead Material Review Board (MRB) and corrective action teams.

    + Drive continuous improvement with suppliers.

    + Design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment.

    + Perform necessary tests and effectively document test results.

    + Formulate or assist in the preparation, review, and approval of quality documents such as plans, policies, procedures, and reports.

    + Participate in and/or perform various audits and compile corresponding reports when required.

    + Manage communications with customers, suppliers, and internal teams in a timely and professional manner.

    + Provide support in the collection and analysis of quality data.

    + Document and report concerns via internal tracking methods, including nonconformance records.

    + Ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

    + Interpret engineering drawings and specifications, customer quality requirements, and company quality requirements.

    + Perform Root Cause Corrective Action using methodologies such as 8D to ensure effectiveness.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in supplier quality, quality assurance, and quality engineering.

    + Proficiency in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis.

    + Understanding of supply chain processes.

    + Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.

    + 1 year of experience in reading and interpreting technical documents, including GD&T, drawings, and engineering orders.

    + 1 year of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.

    + 1 year of experience working directly with customers or suppliers on quality-related issues.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Supplier Quality Engineer is preferred.

    + Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) experience is highly preferred.

    + Familiarity with associated tools such as characteristics matrices, process flow diagrams, Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).

    + Experience with audit and quality control processes.

    + Ability to drive corrective action plans.

    Work Environment

    This role is primarily based in an office environment with occasional travel to suppliers or other sites as needed. It provides a unique opportunity to build a program from the ground up in a new role across all locations.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $41.00/hr.
