    Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Associate

    Job Description

    This role involves preparing trucks overnight to ensure they are ready to depart in the morning. Tasks may include operating forklifts, side loaders, or overhead cranes, as well as reading work orders, locating parts, and loading them onto trucks. The position is available for 1st shift, Monday to Friday from 6am to 3:30pm.

    Responsibilities

    + Complete basic, routine tasks following detailed instructions.

    + Move inventory or equipment, fill customer orders, and pull material from racks.

    + Unload incoming material and load trucks or customer vehicles.

    + Help maintain the upkeep of the warehouse.

    + Receive, place, and return items into stock inventory locations.

    + Pull and assemble orders based on work/shipping orders or other documentation.

    + Tag material for proper identification and complete all required documentation.

    + Move material from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas using forklift, side loader, or crane.

    + Operate yard truck for loading and unloading trailers.

    + Maintain work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.

    + Sort and place material on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code.

    + Perform spot checks on inventory, complete daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of material.

    + Report any irregularities to supervisor for direction.

    + Restock material.

    + Occasionally drive motor vehicle (non-DOT truck) for local deliveries and parts pick-ups.

    + Adhere to and ensure compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.

    + Perform all other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + 0-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + High School diploma/GED preferred.

    + Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.

    + Manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination.

    + Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.

    + Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

    + Basic measurement skills for performing math computations.

    + Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.

    + Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications.

    + Multi-tasking, prioritization, and time management skills.

    + Sound decision-making based on knowledge, experience, and judgment.

    + Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and 60 pounds repetitively.

    + Ability to stand for sustained periods of time and push or pull 80 pounds of force.

    + Ability to go up and down off truck trailers repeatedly.

    + Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.

    The work environment is in a non-climate controlled facility. Employees are required to wear jeans or work pants; shorts, sweats, or leggings are not permitted. The facility has a small company atmosphere with 53 employees onsite, promoting a family-like atmosphere.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, Kansas.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $20.00/hr.
