    Health Advocates Network is currently seeking a **Paralegal** to work at a facility in **Schenectady, NY.** These are _registry_ positions with our company.

     

    **Pay Rate:** $32 / hour

    *W2

    Shift details:

    + Mon - Fri; 9 am - 5 pm

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Paralegal OR a Legal Assistant who can assist lawyers by researching legal precedent, investigating facts, and/or preparing legal documents. The individual will conduct research to support a legal proceeding, to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action. The individual will work under the direct supervision of an attorney. The individual must have knowledge of basic legal processes; legal terminology and legal forms; legal research techniques; ability to read, understand and interpret laws, legal documents and other written material. Paralegals must possess paralegal certification. Legal assistants must possess a minimum of an associate degree in legal assistance OR an associate degree and a certificate of completion of a Legal Assistant Certificate Program from an accredited college. Both titles should have a minimum of two years of experience providing complex clerical level legal support services to an attorney OR on contested cases overseen by an attorney. This category is intended to exclude attorneys.

    Daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

    1. Read, review and edit Recommended Decisions prior to Committee review

    2. Review revisions with Administrative Law Judges as needed

    3. Review Exhibit Lists for accuracy

    4. Review and issue Final Determinations

    5. Review, correct and issue Default resulting from Pre-Hearing Conference 6. E-mail the issued Decisions to the Administrative Litigation Unit

    7. Check emails regularly and take necessary steps to address inquiries, requests for adjournments, attorney representation letters, etc.

    8. Update calendars, file correspondence, emails, etc.

    9. Answer telephone as needed

    10. Assist the Director of the Hearings Unit as directed

    11. Assist the Administrative Specialist 1 as requested
