Assistant Sports Dietitian - Football
Position Description:
The Assistant Sports Dietitian is responsible for delivering evidence-based nutrition services for assigned teams and individual student-athletes. Working collaboratively with sports medicine staff, strength coaches, coaches and other support staff, the Assistant Sports Dietitian supports health, wellness, and performance through education, medical nutrition therapy, food service and performance nutrition strategies.

Major/Essential Functions:
This position will report directly to the Director of Football Nutrition.
+ Assist in providing comprehensive nutrition services to Football student-athletes and assist with Golf nutrition services.
+ Oversee football fueling station operations, including but not limited to managing fueling station inventory, purchasing, systems, and product display/distribution.
+ Develop educational handouts, multimedia content, and group education to promote health, wellness, and performance nutrition habits. Plan and execute enrichment activities for football student-athletes, such as featured products at fueling stations, cooking classes, and grocery store tours.
+ Manage football nutrition student assistants: responsibilities include hiring, onboarding, scheduling, supervising, and mentoring.
+ Assist in serving as a preceptor for the Texas Tech University Dietetic Internship.
+ Assist with practice and competition fueling, including but not limited to on-field hydration and fueling, meal management, and gameday nutrition operations. This position will work all home games and travel to all away games with Football.
+ Share responsibilities of Football team meals, including menu development, catering orders, and/or plate coaching at meals.
+ Assist with counseling student-athletes on performance nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, supplements, and other topics.
+ Perform body composition assessment and analysis for student-athletes and provide 1:1 counseling as appropriate.
+ Assist in managing budget tracking sheets for the Football Nutrition budget.
+ Assist in meeting with and presenting to recruits and families for both official and unofficial recruit visits.
+ Maintain consistent and open communication with the Director of Football Nutrition, sports nutrition staff, football coaching staff, strength and conditioning coaches, sports medicine staff, and team physicians.
+ Other duties as assigned by the Director of Football Nutrition.
+ Ensure compliance with all NCAA, Big 12, and Texas Tech University rules, regulations, and policies.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
+ Ability to work a flexible, non-standard schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
+ Ability to lift, push, or move up to 40 pounds.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field. Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN), or RD-eligible within six months of hire. Zero to one year of experience in sports nutrition or related field, or a combination of related education and/or experience may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis. Will be expected to obtain a Texas dietitian license (LD).
