    The Department of International Heath at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is seeking a **_MD ABCs/SNiPP Coordinator._**

     

    Maryland Emerging Infections Program/Active Bacterial Core surveillance (ABCs) is an infectious disease surveillance program conducted in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Maryland Department of Health (MDH). The Surveillance for Non-Invasive Pneumococcal Pneumonia (SNiPP) study is a sub-study within MD ABCs. The

     

    MD ABCs/SNiPP Coordinator under the supervision of the ABCs Manager will oversee the day-to-day activities of this study. Study completion involves interaction with study partners at, the Maryland Department of Health, the University of Pittsburgh, and the CDC. This position will also provide support to the core ABCs study including including sorting and entry of case information, case chart reviews, isolate management, and other study activities as needed. As part of this role, you may be required to travel up to 15% of the time to hospital labs and medical records.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    + Coordinate the SNiPP study, implementing all study activities with minimal supervision. This study will be ongoing with possibly additional research elements added to the protocol. Knowledge and expertise to respond to these additional requests is required.

    + Responsible for the collection, organization, entry, maintenance and accuracy of all clinical research data, interaction with study colleagues at the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) to collect and utilize statewide public health data, interaction with the CDC for development of study protocols, data reporting, tracking, editing, and analyses, and working within the Maryland ABCs structure to identify and collect the necessary study data from participating healthcare facilities.

    + Coordinate data extractions from MDH to Assist the Program Director with preparing and submitting study documents to the BSPH and MDH IRBs, prepare and present study reports, and assist with other ABCs projects as necessary.

    + Responsible for completing chart reviews and other surveillance related activities for the Maryland Emerging Infections Program/Active Bacterial Core surveillance (ABCs), an infectious disease surveillance program conducted in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Maryland Department of Health (MDH).

    + Work with state and local laboratories for case identification, and will travel to hospitals statewide, as needed to electronically collect clinical and epidemiological data from case medical records.

    + In conjunction with the ABCs team the individual in this position will prepare study reports, respond to study related inquiries from the CDC and other study colleagues and prepare and maintain study documents.

    + Will conduct surveillance related activities for special projects as needed. Assist with training of new ABCs staff.

    Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    + Knowledge of surveillance methodology.

    + Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Access databases, and have a working knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory reporting, and chart review procedures.

    + Must be experienced in handling multiple tasks at once, able to work well independently as well as part of a team, and able to anticipate and identify problems and develop solutions.

    + Must be highly organized and detail oriented.

    + Excellent organizations skills and attention to detail required.

    + Highly developed verbal and written skills and interpersonal skills required.

    + Able to respond to varying demands and manage competing priorities.

    + Able to effectively interact with medical professionals and other staff in order to communicate and achieve study goals.

    + Must be self-motivated, able to identify other needs of the study as well as manage your own work schedule.

    + Ability to maintain several ongoing project activities at any one time, and able to maintain complete confidentiality.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

    + Three years related experience.

    + Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Master's Degree.

    + REDCap experience.

    + MS Access experience.

    + Knowledge of infectious disease identification and treatment, as well as knowledge of research and epidemiologic principles.

    + Knowledge of Microsoft office products including Word, Power Point and Excel.

    + Must have own reliable transportation.

    + Experience in infection control, conducting chart reviews, and/or working in a clinical laboratory.

    + Basic database and data entry skills.

    Starting Salary Range: $41,300 - $72,300 Annually (Commensurate w/exp.)
