Function of Position:

Reporting to the program coordinators, Upward Bound Summer Instructor is responsible for supporting program coordinators, and assigned program assistant during the Upward Bound Summer Program. Instructors will be responsible for working with participants in classes in specific areas of study, Math, English Language and Science. Instructors must have the ability to develop new educational materials and, assist with the assessment of student learning, as appropriate. Classroom management skills are needed along with the ability to interact positively with high school participants. They will be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of participants. The successful candidate will bring a passion for teaching and a desire to support and mentor participants as they pursue educational and career goals.

*This is a temporary, grant funded position.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

+ Develop and deliver engaging instruction in related field.

+ Design lesson plans and create interactive learning experiences.

+ Supervise class room assistant.

+ Develop class syllabi and instructional materials in alignment with UB standards

+ Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

+ Implement innovative and high-impact teaching practices.

+ Review effective study/test-taking skills for related field with students.

+ Maintain record of daily contact.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

+ Earned bachelor degree or higher in education or related field from a regionally accredited institution.

+ Secondary teaching experience required or at least two years' college teaching experience in a related field.

+ Experience in developing and teaching developmental curriculum in related fields preferred.

+ Strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Earned master's degree in education or a related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution.

+ Monroe Community College Upward Bound Summer Instructor Experience.

+ Knowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategies.

+ Proficiency with technology.

+ Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish or other languages proficiently.

Additional Information:

Salary: Range of $30-$35/hour
