Job Title:Supportive Living Counselor
Department:Supportive Living / Re-Integration
Employment Type:Full-Time, Tuesday - Saturday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Job Summary:
FLACRA is seeking a motivated and compassionateSupportive Living Counselorto assist individuals in achieving housing stability and financial independence. This role provides case management, housing support, and vocational guidance to clients with behavioral health needs. The ideal candidate is client-focused, organized, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Required Qualifications:
+ Associate’s Degree in Health or Human Services
+ Training or experience in vocational counseling and behavioral health
+ Valid NYS Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience working with housing placement or community support programs
+ Familiarity with landlord negotiation, rental processes, and local housing systems
Job Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management & Client Support:
+ Independently manage a caseload, providing personalized support to clients
+ Conduct monthly in-home visits and one-on-one counseling sessions
+ Guide clients in setting goals, maintaining housing, budgeting, and accessing community resources
+ Assist with vocational goals and promote financial self-sufficiency
+ Offer crisis support and intervention as needed
Housing & Landlord Coordination:
+ Help clients search for, secure, and maintain independent housing
+ Build and maintain relationships with local landlords; negotiate rental agreements
+ Monitor income, rent contributions, and secure necessary funding sources for housing
+ Conduct regular inspections to ensure safe and stable housing conditions
Documentation & Compliance:
+ Maintain accurate case files including eligibility, income verification, rent calculations, and progress notes
+ Ensure timely and thorough documentation in compliance with OASAS, agency policies, and procedures
+ Utilize EHR systems for electronic recordkeeping
Community & Team Collaboration:
+ Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and program planning sessions
+ Facilitate resident groups and support meetings based on client needs
+ Collaborate with referral sources, funding agencies, and community partners
+ Demonstrate flexibility and cooperation in team-based service delivery
Skills & Competencies:
+ Excellent verbal and written communication
+ Strong organizational and time management abilities
+ Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively
+ Familiarity with behavioral health systems and community-based services
+ Proficient in electronic records and Microsoft Office
