    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This position is in the Firearm Eligibility Bureau, reporting to the Eligibility Research Unit. This is a full-time position that works under the direct supervision of the Manager I. This position is responsible for researching various databases to ensure information received or disseminated is accurate and complies with state and federal requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for applying federal and state disqualifiers as well as maintaining, organizing, and prioritizing their own workflow. This position must meet and maintain NCIC/FCIC (National Crime Information Center/Florida Crime Information Center) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Specific duties include:

    + Conducting research for relevant information from multiple databases and resources;

    + Analyzing multiple source documents to form a recommendation and decision for firearm related transactions;

    + Providing documentation to external criminal justice partners to support updates to criminal justice systems;

    + Ensuring internal documentation for criminal justice information updates includes extensive notation and markup to justify recommended updates to criminal history records;

    + Resolving difficult, unusual, or questionable issues in the review and processing of criminal justice information;

    + Monitoring queue in CCH (Computerized Criminal History) workflow, selecting tasks to be completed and ensuring completion within defined timeframes;

    + Properly routing completed research in the CCH workflow for validation and conducting any follow up research as necessary;

    + Submitting accurate forms and records in accordance with established section procedures; and

    + Completing assigned special projects according to instructions.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    + Knowledge of state and federal firearm disqualifiers;

    + Knowledge of the criminal justice system;

    + Knowledge of the methods of data collection, evaluation, and analysis;

    + Ability to operate computers and other office equipment;

    + Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignment;

    + Ability to communicate effectively;

    + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;

    + Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures;

    + Ability to read and interpret law enforcement data; and

    + Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner.

    BASE SALARY:

    + $ 41,200.00

    BACKGROUND:

    FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. The elements of a background include: financial credit check, criminal history of applicant and applicant’s immediate family or roommates, personal references, employment and education verifications (which includes official transcript(s)), drug screen and fingerprinting. This information will be utilized to make the final hiring decision.

    NOTES:

    Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
