Position Description
Serco is seeking a Technical Support Technician (TST) Manager 1 to join our dedicated team at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Washington. In this leadership role, you will manage a technical team responsible for delivering virtual simulation environments and mission command stimulation in alignment with military training requirements. You will play a key role in enabling effective training operations through expert system configuration, management, and support.
In this role, you will:
+ Lead the Technical Support Team in delivering simulation environments for training units in accordance with exercise planning documents.
+ Apply technical principles and knowledge of virtual systems to configure and operate physical or virtual systems.
+ Make independent technical decisions and develop solutions that avoid significant program delays or expenditures.
+ Represent the organization in solving complex technical issues involving inter-organizational coordination.
+ Interpret training plans and configure hardware/software on systems running Microsoft Windows and RedHat Linux.
+ Diagnose and resolve system errors using logs and performance indicators; escalate issues as needed.
+ Maintain compliance with DoD Information Assurance (IA) protocols, STIGs, and patch requirements.
+ Manage system backups and user account access per authority-to-operate documentation.
+ Provide leadership to junior analysts during shift operations and serve as subject matter expert in simulation systems administration.
+ Ensure technical readiness and sustainment of simulation operating systems and hardware.
Qualifications
Qualifications
+ One of the following:
+ High school diploma or GED with at least 9 years of experience in CS, IT, Cybersecurity, or IA.
+ Bachelor’s degree in CS, IT, Cybersecurity, or IA with at least 5 years of direct experience.
+ Master’s degree in a related field with at least 3 years of direct experience.
+ Meet DoD 8570.01-M IAM Level II or DoD 8140 DCWF equivalent certification requirements.
+ Must meet DoD computing environment training requirements within 6 months of hire.
+ Active DoD TS/SCI or higher security clearance.
+ Experience supporting Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCCTC) at corps level or below.
+ Experience as Federation Manager of HLA/DIS training federations.
+ Experience configuring RedHat Enterprise Linux (v6+) and Microsoft Windows systems (v10+).
+ Proficiency in network-based mass deployments of Windows and Linux systems.
+ Ability to lead in the absence of section manager.
+ Must be able to travel up to 10% and work onsite at JBLM.
+ Willingness to support 24/7 shift operations during exercises, including lifting equipment up to 50 lbs.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
+ A strong technical background in military simulation systems and systems administration.
+ Experience leading teams in a high-tempo operational environment.
+ Solid understanding of DoD IT security protocols and system configuration.
Additional desired experience and skills:
+ Degree in Computer Science, IT, or Systems Engineering.
+ 5+ years with military training support; prior FA57 or CP36 experience.
+ 5+ years with JLCCTC and experience planning distributed simulation architectures.
+ Certification in Linux OS (CompTIA Linux+, RHCSA, etc.).
+ Experience with VMware setup and management.
+ Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification in Windows 10/Server 2012.
