Position Description
Serco is seeking a Principal or Sr. Principal Software Engineer to support the Air Force Modeling and Simulation Support Services (AFMS3) program based in Orlando, FL. In this role, you will develop and maintain advanced simulation software and systems that contribute to Department of Defense (DoD) mission readiness and technological advancement.
This opportunity requires a hands-on, innovative software engineer capable of collaborating across disciplines to solve complex technical challenges while ensuring compliance with software development standards.
This position is contingent upon program award.
In this role, you will:
+ Design, develop, document, test, and debug software applications and systems with logical and mathematical solutions.
+ Collaborate with hardware engineers and equipment designers during planning, development, and implementation of data processing systems.
+ Analyze user needs, system capabilities, and software requirements.
+ Prepare technical documentation and user operating instructions.
+ Design and develop software tools such as compilers, utility programs, and operating systems.
+ Ensure adherence to software development standards and best practices.
Qualifications
Qualifications
For Level 3 (Principal Software Engineer):
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field and 5+ years of experience; or
+ Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience; or
+ 9+ years of relevant software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
For Level 4 (Sr. Principal Software Engineer):
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field and 8+ years of experience; or
+ Master’s degree and 6+ years of experience; or
+ 12+ years of relevant software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
+ Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java, or Python.
+ Active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
+ Strong programming and software design skills.
+ Experience with cross-functional collaboration in software development teams.
+ Familiarity with software lifecycle documentation and configuration management.
Additional desired experience and skills:
+ Experience with Agile methodologies and DevSecOps pipelines.
+ Familiarity with DoD software development and Modeling & Simulation (M&S) systems.
