    Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit

    Status: Flex Full Time (28-40 hours/week)

    Join UPMC’s Behavioral Health team as a Milieu Therapist I, delivering compassionate care through individual and group activities in a fast-paced, supportive environment with both acute and extended care programs. Make a real impact alongside a dedicated multi-disciplinary team.

    Responsibilities:

    + Facilitate or co-facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic activity groups effectively.

    + Support and encourage patients in performing activities of daily living.

    + Maintain required competencies and stay current with best practices in patient care.

    + Accompany patients to off-site activities and appointments as needed.

    + Accurately document all patient interactions and care in the Medical Record following established policies.

    + Manage crisis situations calmly and effectively using positive intervention techniques.

    + Demonstrate strong milieu management skills to foster a positive and therapeutic patient environment.

    + Ensure a safe, supportive, and healing environment for patients and staff.

    + Coordinate and lead patient groups and activities to promote engagement and progress.

    + Participate actively in interdisciplinary team meetings and related activities.

    + Conduct 1:1 meetings with assigned patients to assess current status and progress.

    + **Bachelor’s degree in human services** (Social Work, Psychology, Counseling) or related field with at least 12 credits in Human Services

    + Mental health experience preferred

    + Open-minded, flexible, and eager to learn; creative and excited to thrive in a fast-paced behavioral health environment.

    + Strong oral and written communication skills

    + Experience with therapeutic and leisure activities preferred

    + Physically able to provide direct care to behavioral health patients, including lifting, supporting, and assisting with equipment

    Licensure & Certifications:

    + Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) training required within 60 days of hire and annually thereafter

    + Act 34 clearance
