Summary You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (CLASSIFICATION) in the Total Force Management Program Office (N1) of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND. Responsibilities You will write target level position descriptions for a career development program. You will create guides and handouts for human resources training. You will brief managers on position classification appeal findings. You will explain classification processes and procedures to managers, employees, union officials. You will coordinate with multiple parties (e.g., multiple commands, agencies, human resources offices) to resolve human resources issues. You will advise employees or managers on the position classification appeal process. You will conduct organizational program reviews (e.g., position structures, audits, studies for reorganizations) to identify position management needs for an organization. You will classify position descriptions for an organization. You will process corrective actions as necessary. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience classifying both non-supervisory and leadership General Schedule (GS) position descriptions using applicable federal civilian classification standards and functional guides. Experience applying federal laws, regulations, and policies to accurately determine Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) exemption status. Experience communicating classification determinations and recommendations effectively to management and senior leadership, ensuring clarity and compliance with federal guidelines. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience reviewing and analyzing position descriptions in alignment with federal classification standards. Experience applying position management principles and techniques to deliver management advisory services on organizational structures. Experience resolving position classification issues, providing expert guidance, and utilizing HR tools and systems to address challenges. Experience collaborating with managers, supervisors, and employees to support effective organizational processes.
