Position Specific Description

Florida Power & Light Company is seeking a Senior Accountant at the Juno Beach location. In this role, you will report to the Benefits, Investments & Debt Accounting Manager and focus mainly on benefits and investment related activities. This position will also have opportunities for involvement in the team’s process improvement initiatives.

Specific duties and responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

+ Prepare monthly journal entries related to corporate wide benefits and investments and decommissioning trust funds

+ Prepare accounting treatment analysis for new investments

+ Prepare account reconciliations for assigned accounts

+ Support monthly, quarterly & annual reporting and filing requirements (Securities & Exchange Commission, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Florida Public Service Commission)

+ Prepare Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) certifications as assigned

+ Assist in developing junior staff

+ Prepare ad hoc analyses and reports as needed

+ Support various process improvement initiatives as assigned

Job Overview

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepares financial reports that are in compliance with GAAP, in a timely manner, to accurately reflect the financial status of the company

• Maintains a good understanding of, and applies, GAAP, SEC regulations, and relative company policies, practices and procedures

• Assures accounting integrity of corporate financial data through the implementation of appropriate internal controls

• Prepares schedules and journal entries

• Provides guidance and direction to other team members

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance / Business

• Experience: 4+ years

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

• Master's - Business Administration

• Master's - Accounting / Finance
