Position Description
TheDepartment of Agricultural Sciences (https://ag.txst.edu/) at Texas State University invites applicants for a position at the Assistant Professor of Instruction level to start in Fall 2025.
We are seeking candidates to teach a variety of diverse agricultural science courses primarily at the undergraduate level and serve at the professional department, college, and university levels. The position is a nine-month non-tenure-line faculty appointment with a potential opportunity of teaching on summer term based on departmental need and student demand.
The selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check and provide official transcripts from all degree-granting universities. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience. All positions are subject to availability of funding.
Required Qualifications
+ Master’s in agricultural education, agricultural mechanics, agricultural and biosystem engineering, agricultural systems, agricultural systems technology, career & technical education or closely related field;
+ Documented evidence of willingness/experience in teaching a broad and diverse range of undergraduate courses in agricultural sciences including program building for agricultural education, instructional methods for career and technical education, organization & management for laboratory programs, introduction to agricultural engineering, agricultural safety, agricultural structure and environments, metal fabrication, agricultural power and machinery, agricultural electric and mechanical systems, land management and agriculture irrigation technology);
+ Graduate level courses on grant writing, instructional design, methods of technological change, electrical and electronic applications and
+ Demonstrated ability to be an effective team player in a multidisciplinary environment;
+ Demonstrates a strong commitment to student-centered teaching and mentoring.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Ph.D. in agricultural education, agricultural engineering, agricultural and biosystem engineering, agricultural systems, agricultural systems technology, career & technical education or closely related field;
+ Familiarity and hands-on practical experience with Texas agriculture (crops, livestock); and
+ Proficiency in emerging areas of agricultural technology and mechanical systems, such as precision farming, sensor technology and instrumentation;
+ Experience with planning and conducting agriculture related career development events and contests.
