The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs welcomes applications from qualified internal candidates for the position of Assistant Provost for Accreditation and Assessment.
The Assistant Provost for Accreditation and Assessment provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for university-wide accreditation, academic program assessment, general education assessment, and academic quality assurance. Reporting to the Provost, this role supports institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement by guiding compliance with accreditation standards, coordinating academic assessment initiatives, and serving as a key liaison to internal and external stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Supervise the Specialist for Credentialing and Accreditation.
+ Provide oversight for academic program assessment, including academic program review, the program sustainability check-up, and the evaluation of student learning outcomes and engagement.
+ Oversee general education assessment initiatives, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and accreditation standards.
+ Oversee the Academic and Administrative Support Assessment Plans process.
+ Serve as an ex-officio member of curriculum committees.
+ Coordinate the state Notification of Intent (NOI) reporting process and oversee curricular action reporting, including documentation required for the WKU Board of Regents and the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE).
+ Maintain accurate records for all curricular actions and approvals.
+ Provide leadership for the development, implementation, and assessment of the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).
+ Serve as the institutional accreditation liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), as well as other accrediting bodies and WKU academic program coordinators.
+ Coordinate and manage the scheduling of accreditation and reaccreditation site visits for academic programs. This includes initiating annual outreach to programs undergoing review to ensure timely preparation of materials and organizing meetings with institutional leadership to streamline scheduling and ensure efficient communication.
+ When appropriate and time permits, attend academic program accreditation site visits as an observer to support the process and engage in professional development.
+ Collaborate with faculty fellows and campus partners to support and assess OneWKU initiatives.
+ Provide oversight and management of the WKU Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) database.
Job Requirements:
+ Earned terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D.) from a regionally accredited institution.
+ A minimum of two years of experience in educational administration or program management (i.e., program/graduate coordinator, program director/manager, department chair, director, associate dean, faculty/staff fellow).
+ Demonstrated knowledge of regional and programmatic accreditation standards and practices.
+ Experience with academic assessment and curriculum development.
+ Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
