Description
+ Remove, overhaul, troubleshoot, repair, install and/or align auxiliary systems and associated equipment/components such as shell and tube heat exchangers, compressors, pumps, forced draft blowers, various types of valves, cargo handling machinery, anchor handling gear, boat davits, cranes, elevators, conveyors, evaporators, and boilers.
+ Install and repair foundations for operating machinery and principal structures/components of ship's armament.
+ Install, adjust, set, and repair or replace various control/regulating and safety devices such as meters, gauges, valves, governors, and automatic alarms.
+ Test or assist in testing of shipboard machinery pier side or on sea trials to prove satisfactory operation and acceptance.
+ Use various portable and fixed machine tools such as boring bars, milling machines, facing machines and drill presses. Use precision measuring instruments such as height gauges, depth gauges, calipers, verniers, various types of micrometers, and assists in the use of optical equipment.
+ Read, understand, and properly execute all work in accordance with information received from technical work documents, blueprints, specifications, written and/or oral instructions.
+ Installs below-deck auxiliaries, for example evaporators, heaters, pumps, condensers, and boilers.

Qualifications
+ Must be able to read, write and comprehend instructions in written or spoken in English.
+ Must be able to calculate and understand units of measure.
+ Must be reliable with a strong work ethic.Must have basic hand tools applicable to your trade with bag or tote.
+ Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, tech manuals and work specifications for various types of machinery and/or piping systems.
+ Must be able to wear applicable PPE (Hard hat, safety goggles, gloves, steel toes shoes, ear protection)

Desired Education and Experience:
+ Education Minimum: High School Diploma/GED
+ Preferred Minimum: Trade School, Apprenticeship, or Higher Education
+ Minimum Relevant Experience: 1 year
+ Preferred Relevant Experience: 5+ years
+ Basic computer skills preferred

+ Must have reliable transportation

+ Must be able to pass a drug screening
Trade Class Designation:
3rd Class Tradesperson
Performs a variety of duties with a basic knowledge and understanding of their respective trade. The position generally requires daily supervision and typically requires at least 1-3 years of relevant experience.
2nd Class Tradesperson
Performs a wide variety of duties with an advanced knowledge and understanding of their respective trade. The position generally requires moderate supervision and typically requires at least 4-7 years of relevant experience.
1st Class Tradesperson
Performs a wide variety of duties at an advanced or expert level. A 1st Class tradesperson understands theory, operation, and advanced concepts within their respective trade. The position generally requires little or no supervision and typically requires at least 7-10 years of relevant experience.
Physical Demands
Must be able to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery; to work from lifts, ladders, and scaffolding; to manipulate heavy equipment, tools and supplies and/or exert 50 lbs.; to concurrently manipulate multiple controls and machinery; to work in hazardous or irritating environments, confined spaces, and adverse weather or temperature conditions, to wear and work in personnel protective equipment.
