    UW Medical Center-Montlake – Rehabilitation Therapies** has an outstanding opportunity for a **SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST 1 - NICU.** **WORK SCHEDULE

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU):

    - This role will serve as a Neonatal Feeding Therapist to provide direct patient care and/or consultative services for the premature and/or medically complex infants in a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), as referred by a licensed provider.

    - Responsible for providing feeding/swallowing assessments for all infants <35 weeks gestation at birth.

    - Assist to develop clinical programs and individualized feeding plans to facilitate safe, cue based oral feeding for each infant; implementing developmentally appropriate feeding/swallowing intervention services to minimize feeding challenges as warranted; actively collaborating with neonatology team regarding therapy needs in the NICU, oral feeding practices, premature infant development, and provision of developmental care.

    - Confer with and coach families and caregivers regarding individualized feeding techniques to minimize impact of feeding challenges in their NICU infant.

    - Participate in operational aspects, performance improvement, and quality improvement activities within the department.

    - Provide input in formulating budget, assist in evaluation of departmental performance, and take action to remain in budget guidelines.

    - Ensure that patient charges and documentation are accurate and entered on a timely basis.

    - Supervise students, volunteers, and office assistants.

    - Participate in infection control, equipment training, compliance, safety and educational programs, both at the departmental and organizational level.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + A Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology or Communicative Disorders or equivalent degree approved by the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association

    + Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association.

    + Current State Licensure in Speech Pathology (as Speech-Language Pathologist). **ABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER-MONTLAKE**
