    First Student is hiring a Shop Manager serving the Burbank, LACOE, and Tumbleweed School District!

     

    We're looking for a hands-on **Shop Manager** to oversee day-to-day fleet maintenance operations and lead a team of skilled technicians. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-impact environment, values continuous improvement, and is passionate about vehicle diagnostics and team development.

     

    As a Shop Manager, you'll be responsible for supervising maintenance activities for our fleet of busses. You’ll work closely with regional leadership to ensure compliance, efficiency, and performance goals are met—all while playing a key part in developing talent and driving operational excellence.

     

    **Annual Salary:** $80,000 - $85,000 annually + $.25/hr ASE bonus

    Responsibilities:

    Lead and schedule fleet maintenance operations; oversee diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance

     

    Hire, train, develop, and evaluate technician staff; manage performance, discipline, and team dynamics

     

    Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations

     

    Monitor and manage maintenance budgets, vendor invoices, and repair orders

     

    Partner with dispatch and operations teams to ensure vehicle availability and service coordination

     

    Order parts, fuel, and subcontract repair work as needed

     

    Identify and implement cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing initiatives

     

    Perform hands-on mechanical work as needed

    Requirements:

    5+ years of mechanical supervisory experience** **(fleet or diesel preferred)

     

    Strong diagnostic skills, especially in** **alternative fuel systems (propane a plus)

     

    ASE certifications highly preferred

     

    Solid communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

     

    Must hold a** **valid CDL with required endorsements

     

    Comfortable working in physically demanding shop environments (lifting up to 50 lbs, working under vehicles, etc.)

     

    Proficiency in basic computer systems for maintenance tracking
