We test large mining and heavy construction machines to ensure that we deliver a quality product to our customers. As an Engineering Project Team Leader, you will manage multiple and complex engineering projects involving multiple functions, organizations, products, and value chains. This role will focus on a mix of developing some of our industry-leading machines and new technology programs. This role will lead a team across multiple disciplines to execute NPI programs, issue resolution, and development programs. These teams have a good knowledge of full machine systems, such as hydraulics, electrical, performance, and troubleshooting.
What you will do:
• Develop project scope to address business challenges and opportunities.
• Coordinating resources across the businesses with sales and marketing, product development groups, value chain and manufacturing.
• Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.
• Directing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.
Degree Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
What skills you will have:
**Technical Excellence:** Experience in **Test and Validation, Design Engineering, or Product Support.** Demonstrated ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
**Team Management: Experience leading the team.** Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.
**Troubleshooting Technical Problems:** Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.
**Product Design and Development:** Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
**Products and Services:** Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.
**Project Management:** Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
**Influencing Through Expertise:** Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.
**Requirements Analysis:** Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
**Education Requirement:** Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum.
Top Candidates will also have:
Experience with mining equipment development.

The primary location for this position is Tucson Proving Ground, Green Valley, AZ.
Relocation is available.

Summary Pay Range:
$123,480.00 - $185,280.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
