Job Description:
+ HALO QA group deals with limited GFE involvement but are there to assist as needed. Primary Focus in on Customer Furnished Equipment (CFE) from various countries.
+ Coordination for oversite of quality requirements and Government Mandatory Inspection Points (GMIP) and In Line Assessments (ILA) via Government Contract Quality Assurance (GCQA) and Risk Based Quality Assurance (RBQA) is through Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) personnel and HALO NASA QA.
+ Coordination with Prime Contractor Quality Assurance group to Identify, track, coordinate and resolve quality issues with Customer Furnished Equipment (CFE) with the flexibility to assist with GFE issues.
+ Support the Customer with Milestone reviews (i.e. Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Manufacturing Readiness Review(MRR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), Failure Review Board (FRB), Material Review Board (MRB) and Pre-Shipment Review (PSR) and using information from these milestone reviews in the application of GCQA RBQA for NASA inspection and delegated DCMA inspection.
+ Perform multi-area in-line Quality Engineering tasks for criticalspace flightEVA and hardware to establish and/or assign government mandatory inspection points (GMIPs).
+ Review work authorizing documents and engineering drawings for complianceto NASA/JSC requirements and GMIP assignments.
+ Perform critical review of design changes, oversee failure investigations, develop corrective actions, and prepare investigation reports.
+ Review hardware documentation to identify pre-test status.
+ Perform flight equipment acceptance reviews to determine limited life status, certification status, and open work/issues.
+ Evaluate new designs for flight and critical CFE, ground support equipment, and to assure compliance with NASA and voluntary consensus industry workmanship requirements and provide recommendations to improve manufacturability/inspectability and increase reliability.
+ Perform real-time evaluations of flight CFE equipment manufacturing issues and failures to determine root cause and provide recommended manufacturing process improvements and/or hardware repair or rework methods and procedures.
+ Develop and/or evaluate new or revised inspection requirements, special processes, and workmanship standards for design and manufacture of high reliability CFE and related equipment and systems for space flight applications.
+ Provide technical and quality support and guidance to less experienced quality personnel.
+ Complete all necessary GFE QE training/certification curriculum, and once certified, serve as mentor to other GFE QE personnel during their on-the-job training.
+ Pursue certification in the secondary discipline of EVA Safety, and complete all necessary training/certification curriculum. Once completed, the GFE QE would be considered “cross-trained” in EVA Safety and may be asked on occasions to perform tasks such as EVA/EMU hazard and FMEA/CIL review, EVA console support, EVA/EMU anomaly support, and EVA/EMU hardware design review support.
Qualifications
Required Education/Background:
+ Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical).
+ Candidate must be a US Citizen.
Required skills:
+ PC literacy with proficiency in the use of Microsoft office applications including Word, Excel,and PowerPoint.
+ Strong presentation skills in technical forums as well as superior verbal and writtencommunication skills.
+ Adaptability and flexibility regarding changes in task assignments and deadlines.
+ Ability to work both independently and as a member teams.
+ Ability to receive and execute specific assignments with minimal supervision.
+ Ability to maintain positive working relationships with NASA customer, peers, and manager/supervisor.
+ Working knowledge of NASA standards and program requirements documents governing the design, development, manufacture, assembly, processing, testing, inspection, and certification of space flight hardware.
+ Prior experience support NASA’s program from a hardware and/or operations perspective.
+ Prior experience with ISO 9001/AS9100 auditing
