Job Summary - Manager, Clinical Nutrition
As a Clinical Nutrition Manager, you will oversee and coordinate the operational effectiveness and efficiency of Clinical Nutrition at Corewell Health. Your leadership will be pivotal in managing a team dedicated to delivering high-quality clinical nutrition services.A key aspect of this role is fostering a culture of innovation by encouraging the exploration of creative and forward-thinking solutions to modern healthcare challenges. The Manager continuously seeks new strategies and approaches to enhance clinical nutrition services and improve patient outcomes.In collaboration with the leadership team, you will contribute to the development of site and service goals, providing valuable input for budget development and management. Your role will involve creating and implementing policies and procedures that support medical nutrition therapy, ensuring the provision of excellent clinical services.A significant aspect of your responsibilities will be to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the clinical nutrition team. By working closely with other leaders, you will help drive strategic initiatives that enhance patient care and operational performance.
Essential Functions - Manager, Clinical Nutrition
+ Provide strategic direction and oversight for clinical nutrition functions at Corewell Health.
+ Advocate for the advancement of registered dietitians and clinical nutrition services, ensuring their integral role in patient care.
+ Collaborate with interdisciplinary leaders to integrate clinical nutrition services into broader healthcare strategies, enhancing the impact and visibility of nutrition care.
+ Provide direction, coaching, and support to the clinical professional and support staff who are engaged in patient care and program support.Lead efforts to innovate and improve clinical nutrition practices, staying abreast of emerging trends and evidence-based approaches.Manage resources within the budget and report financial results towards operational goals each month. Ensure operations are managed within established guidelines and monitor compliance with enteral contracts.
+ Develops and maintains policies, procedures, standards of work, and team member files for record completion. Assists in preparing the department for accreditation surveys, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to clinical nutrition operations.
+ Partner with the Nutrition Services department offering expertise on menus and other clinical departments, supporting patient care projects, metrics and decisions as required.Communicates and works with leaders and team members in other departments. Leads and participates on various committees, including department leadership teams. Oversee the activities of professional, clinical, technical, and support team members engaged in providing quality clinical nutrition services, including counseling and education.
+ Develops strategic long and short-term goals and plans for Corewell Health clinical nutrition, aligning with the organization's strategic objectives. Measures and reports key success metrics, ensuring that department performance expectations are consistently met.Initiates and leads continuous improvement activities, ensuring alignment with clinical guidelines, national standards, accreditation requirements, and patient satisfaction data. Measures and reports on the effectiveness of these initiatives to drive process and quality improvements.
+ Interprets and applies current evidence-based principles of nutrition and diet therapy to develop and implement strategies for patient care including, but not limited to, screening and diagnosing malnourished patients. Benchmarks results to measure effectiveness. Maintains current knowledge of business operations and management techniques to support clinical and operational excellence.
+ Facilitate the training and continuing education of team members by providing ongoing learning activities and setting clear expectations for clinical staff and leaders. Conduct interviews, hire, orient, coach, and develop team members, assigning duties and responsibilities appropriately. Evaluate performance, provide constructive feedback, and take corrective action when necessary. Maintain updated job descriptions and competencies for all clinical nutrition positions to ensure alignment with current standards and practices.
+ Establishes work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow to ensure efficiency. Monitors and optimizes productivity to effectively manage staffing levels. Conducts regular staff meetings and fosters a culture of open and ongoing communication.Performs the duties of Registered Dietitians and/or Dietetic Technicians, including assessment and education of patients to help with staffing issues as needed.
Qualifications - Manager, Clinical Nutrition
+ Required Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's in nutrition, dietetics, or related field; exempted from Masters requirement by virtue of existing status prior to the Jan 1, 2024 Commission on Dietetic Registration update.
+ Preferred Master's Degree Master's in nutrition, dietetics or related field; master's degree required when registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration is effective on or after Jan 1, 2024
+ 5 years of relevant experience medical nutrition therapy preferably in a health care setting Required
+ 2 years of relevant experience leadership experience and training Preferred
+ CRT-Registered Dietitian (RD) - CDR Commission on Dietetic Registration required
