    In this position…

     

    As the communications expert embedded at the Buffalo Plant, you will work with your plant leadership on comprehensive communications, community engagement and local media strategies. You will be responsible for keeping your plant population informed of corporate messages, helping to celebrate employees, deepening Ford’s connection to the local community, and mining for stories that build community and celebrate your facility’s contributions to a successful future for Ford.

    What you'll do…

    **Strategic Communications Leadership:** You would be responsible for developing and implementing the overall communications strategy for the Buffalo Plant. This isn't just about executing tasks but thinking strategically about how to tell the plant's story, engage the workforce, and use various methods like events, signage, and digital channels effectively. You'd be part of the plant's leadership committee, bringing the communications perspective to the table.

    **Internal Communications & Employee Engagement:** A major focus is on keeping the plant employees informed and engaged. This involves being the main point of contact for employees, acting as a liaison between different levels of leadership (plant, union, corporate), writing and distributing a monthly newsletter, creating leadership messages (written or video), and managing internal digital platforms and social groups to encourage employee connection. You'd also be reporting on plant achievements like cost savings, quality improvements, and innovations.

    **External Communications & Community Relations:** You'd manage the plant's relationship with the outside world. This includes building connections with local media outlets and serving as the go-between for them and the corporate communications team. You'd also be responsible for strengthening Ford's ties to the local Buffalo community by engaging with key stakeholders like dealers, arts groups, and small businesses.

    **Event Planning and Management:** A significant part of the role involves leading the planning and execution of various events at the plant site, ranging from large-scale public events like Family Open Houses and Spirit Days to more formal occasions like press conferences and executive visits.

    **Corporate and Personal Integration:** You'd serve as the onsite representative of the corporate communications team, ensuring alignment with company-wide messaging and initiatives. You'd also stay informed about broader company and industry news. The role also emphasizes continuous personal and professional development in communication and leadership skills.

    You'll have…

    + Bachelor’s degree in journalism, PR, Communications or related field

    + 1-2 Years of experience in communications, media relations or journalism

    + Experience in community relations, media relations and stakeholder advocacy

    + Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop/InDesign/Premiere and creativity to generate original content

    + Strong writing and communication skills

    + Top-notch organizational and multi-tasking abilities

    + Self-starter attitude

    + Personal experience with social media and an understanding of its role in business

    + Ongoing awareness of local or regional events and media environment

    + Professional and interpersonal maturity with a proven track record of successful relationship building
