Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

DreamWorks Animation has an exciting new opportunity for an Assistant Editor to join its team based in Glendale, CA. The Assistant Editor will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Edit suite in support of the Lead Editor. This position is covered by the Motion Picture Editors Guild.

Responsibilities: “What would you say you do here?”
+ Supports Lead Editor, Associate Editor(s), and Assistant Editor I across daily production and editorial needs.
+ Works with Assistant Editor I to be responsible for the accurate presentation of all materials related to the film (eg: story reels, screeners, previews, DCPs, etc.).
+ Leads, participates in, and/or prepares for scratch, production, and ADR dialogue recording sessions.
+ Imports, organizes and breaks down dialogue recordings in preparation for use by Lead Editor.
+ Help curate SFX and temp music for lead editor.
+ Assists with cutting of temp SFX and Music for the story reel.
+ Works with Assistant Editor I to be responsible for creation of all media outputs from Editorial.
+ Imports and organizes new media deliveries from Production.
+ Works with Assistant Editor I to be responsible for publishing all cut lists and change notes to Production.
+ Is a point of contact with Technical Directors in production.
+ Supervises quality standards of all work done at audio houses and other post houses.
+ Spots final film with Sound Designer and Composer.
+ Acts as a creative liaison between Directors/Production, sound designer, and mixers.
+ Attends all screenings (studio and preview) and works with Lead Editor to incorporate changes resulting from those screenings.
+ Attends production meetings as needed.
+ Delivers an approved cut of the film in the required format to the sound and music departments on the handover date.
Basic Qualifications: “What do I need to have in order to do this job?”
+ Intimate knowledge of AVID Media Composer.
+ Some experience with Premiere Pro and Resolve.
+ Understanding of professional video/audio standards, codecs and movement of content between various post production applications.
+ Has acquired enough union hours to be on the Industry Experience Roster.
Desired Qualifications: “What can I offer?”
+ Proficiency with Photoshop and Adobe After Effects is a plus.
+ Familiarity with FLIX.
+ Familiarity with Autodesk Shotgrid.
+ Animation editing experience is preferred.
+ Familiarity with Pro Tools for temp/scratch recording is preferred.
+ Familiarity with both Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems is preferred.
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
Salary Range: $89,170 - $115,000
