As a Software Engineer (Java/Gen AI), you will be a hands-on lead in our journey to build business capabilities in support of the Employee Benefits. Your passion and design to learn will be essential to the success of our agile team as we build API connectivity with our partners.
You will have a real impact on our business and technology. Our IT organization is looking for you, a detail-oriented, results-driven Full Stack Developer who is ready for a challenge! Joining members of a motivated team, working closely with our business partners in supporting their initiatives within an agile environment. You will be asked to make decisions quickly in consultation with team members while building strong relationships, actively participating in teamwork, and developing an understanding of the dynamics and critical nature of the business.
In Summary:
+ Accountable as a software engineer on an agile scrum team, to contribute towards the team’s goals of improving our Agile delivery and DevOps practices.
+ Accountable for adhering to software engineering practices (e.g., Source code management, branching, code reviews, and issue resolution)
+ Responsible for firsthand development using Java and the Java Spring Framework in both hybrid and cloud native environments.
+ Assist in agile feature and user story refinement to deliver business capabilities.
+ Design, test, develop, deploy, maintain, and improve software assets.
+ Contribute to and support system team backlog centering on release management, platform security, and technical concurrency.
+ Ensure high code quality which conforms to The Hartford coding standards and industry best practices.
+ Proactively identify, analyze, and address technical issues along with risks that could impact applications stability and/or project delivery.
+ Creating and reviewing technical documentation to support knowledge transfer to production support team.
+ A passion for learning and applying innovative technologies and methodologies.
Must Have Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline with 1+ years of work experience in software engineering.
+ A minimum of 1 year of experience programming in Java utilizing the Java Spring framework. This includes experience with Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Spring JMS, Spring JDBC
+ 1 year of experience developing AWS Cloud applications is a plus.
+ Experience with Sonar, unit testing frameworks, using copilot or AWS Q(GEN AI tools) for app development, infrastructure development.
+ Firsthand experience with cloud-based technologies (AWS), SaaS, and open-source frameworks.
+ Firsthand experience with Java and J2EE technologies, such as, Java Web Services, JMS, JSP, XML, JSON, JDBC.
+ Experience with relational and NoSQL databases including Oracle, Postgres and DynamoDB.
+ Working knowledge of MQ Series, DataPower, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon SQS and SNS, and APIC integration platforms.
+ Firsthand experience with product unit and assembly level as well as system wide test automation using frameworks such as Cucumber and Karate.
+ Experience using GitHub, GHA, Jenkins, UDeploy, and Nexus tools for fully automated DevOps pipelines.
+ Working experience with developing SOAP and REST APIs as well as having the ability to research and understand third party API provider integration requirements.
+ Experience with application architecture, software design and design patterns
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Single Page Application development utilizing the Angular framework is a plus.
+ Familiarity with continuous integration and DevOps methodologies
+ Experience working with cross-functional project teams using Scrum Agile with remotely located team members.
+ Firsthand development experience with Terraform, and PL/SQL language desired.
+ Firsthand experience with IAC tools and technologies.
+ Firsthand experience with developing service orchestration flows with tools such as IBM API Connect
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
87,200 - 144,000
The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
