Job Summary
Salary to commensurate with qualifications
The Sheriff’s Office provides public safety at all times and therefore every position is deemed essential. All positions are in-person and not eligible for remote work. Every position is also subject to recall based on the needs of the Office to keep the community safe.
This position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm , subject to change.
Under FLSA guidelines, this position is non-exempt.

Performs data entry and administrative duties for the Civil Unit. Responds to public inquiries about the civil process in person and by phone. Prepares returns of service for Local and out-of-State courts. Processes money and civil service requests accurately and in a professional manner. Balances daily accounts for the Civil Unit.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
+ Gathers accurate and detailed information from the public to assist deputies in providing prompt civil services and ensuring officer safety.
+ Examines civil papers for statutory sufficiency and completeness. Enters data concerning civil court papers and routes information to deputies.
+ Provides customer service at counter; accurately handles exchanged money.
+ Screens and refers incoming calls.
+ Processes money and requests for civil services sent by mail or express delivery.
+ Files civil court papers in office filing system.
+ Verifies addresses, interprets maps, and provides clear directions to civil deputies serving processes.
+ Serves civil processes in the office and judicial building when civil deputies are unavailable.
+ Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Must be honest, trustworthy, and possess a high degree of personal integrity.
+ Must be customer service oriented and possess a high level of organizational skills and initiative while maintain confidentiality.
+ Ability to communicate with the public and agencies in a professional and courteous manner.
+ Ability to function effectively with frequent interruptions and distraught citizens.
+ Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment. Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite.
+ Ability to comprehend and follow precise instructions from sources to include court orders, legal advisers, judges, and district attorneys.
+ Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
+ Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures for balancing daily accounts.
+ Knowledge of Colorado civil laws and civil procedural laws concerning Sheriff's Office sales.
+ Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Required Education and Experience:
+ High school diploma or equivalent education.
+ Minimum one year clerical, administrative, and/or office experience.
+ Any equivalent combination of related education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job will be considered.
Licenses/Certificates:
+ Must obtain and maintain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Compliance within six months of employment.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
+ Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, drug screen, and truth verification examination.

Duties are primarily performed in an office environment.
