The successful candidate will serve as the Family Medicine physician lead/medical director at the Employee Primary Care clinic, a clinic slated to open in the MultiStory building on grounds at UVA. The incumbent will be responsible for direct patient care 7 half day outpatient sessions/week and teaching and supervision of residents and medical students. The medical director serves as the clinician who oversees and guides the care that is provided, a leader to help define a vision of quality improvement, an operations consultant to address day-to-day aspects of organizational function, and a direct supervisor and consultant to Advance Practice Providers practicing in this location. The employee primary care clinic will provide access to a full suite of comprehensive in-person and virtual health and wellness services for the employees of UVA and UVA Health. UVA operates a self-insured health plan for employees and dependents, with nearly [enter number] lives covered. Considering the cost of healthcare will continue to rise by 4-7% year-over-year, we will need to control costs, maintain the health of our workforce, and control out-of-network/outside of UVA health care payments. Offering on site primary care staffed by school of medicine employed providers will help mitigate these price hikes and allow UVA to continue to offer high value benefits to our employees. If we can establish a successful employee primary care model, we believe we can: control healthcare costs, improve health outcomes, and help retain high quality employees with this attractive benefit.

We have long-standing clinical and educational programs in collaborative care integrating behavioral health and pharmacy services into patient care. Qualified candidates must have an MD or DO and be board-certified or board-eligible by either the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians by the start date. Preference will be given to candidates who practice obstetrics, have experience with care of hospitalized patients, those with procedural or POCUS experience and have residency teaching experience or have completed a fellowship in family medicine.
