    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    The Lymphedema Specialist is a Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist accountable for lymphedema management care.

    Essential functions (including, but not limited to):

    + OT or PT essential functions

    + Provides continuity of care for patients in collaboration with physicians through planning, implementing and evaluating comprehensive wound care.

    + Evaluates patient care and outcomes for quality assurance, and provides appropriate intervention as needed.

    + Demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills in the area of Lymphatic care.

    + Implements a plan-of-care by the second patient visit in accordance to an algorithm for lymphatic care and policies and procedures including outcome criteria and target dates.

    + Competently educates patient and/or family in complete decongestive therapy, dressings, edema control, and life-style changes.

    + Demonstrates competence to instruct and monitor staff in ordered treatments for compression therapy.

    + Actively demonstrates knowledge and use of proper body mechanics instructing others as needed.

    + Assumes patient advocate role, protecting all patient rights.

    + Marketing/Community Relations - Attends Community events representing the Lymphedema Care.

    + Develops referral relationships with, physician offices and home health agencies.

    What qualifications you will need:

    + Bachelors Degree

    + State licensed Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist

    + Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT)

    + Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
