    DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

    The Agenda for Children Literacy Initiative at the Cambridge Public Health Department is an early literacy program supporting Cambridge moms, dads and caregivers of children birth to 8 years old through 3 programs – Let’s Talk!, Pathways to Family Success and Cambridge Dads.

    Summary:

    Participate in, organize, and/or facilitate home visits, workshops, and events that:

    + Help parents understand the importance of talking and reading to their young children.

    + Provide information to parents about resources and services that are available to them.

    + Help parents connect to agencies or organizations

    Responsibilities:

    + Do home visits to families in English and/or your home language. This includes finding families who want to be visited, as well as visiting them.

    + Outreach to families in your communities through mailings, phone calls, and in-person conversations.

    + Attend activities, events and fairs with Agenda for Children staff members.

    + Assist and/or lead workshops in English, and also in another language (if you are Bilingual).

    + Continue to learn about available community resources.

    + Attend all necessary training sessions.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + •Promote literacy (talking and reading)

    + Work with parents

    + Connect to families with young children. Strong communication skills required

    + High school diploma/GED required
