Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems Test – X-Lab Test Director (25-224) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position, located in Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO., plays a crucial role in our mission to support the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier globally and regionally. Networks integrate and synchronize autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.
The Test Director (Element Mission Director) role within the C2BMC National Team Integration & Test Functional Area is currently seeking immediate applications. Essential Functions:
+ As a Test Director, your primary responsibilities will involve organizing and participating in Flight and Ground Tests. Key duties include identifying necessary resources, defining mission objectives for systems being tested, creating data archival and analysis strategies, preparing post-mission reports
+ Will be responsible for identifying required resources, developing and understanding mission objectives for the system(s) under test, developing data archival and analysis plans, and developing post-mission reports
+ Work as a Test Director in the Experimentation Lab, integrating X-Lab prototypes into an MDA test from coordinating with project leads, understanding prototype involvement in the test, mapping the configuration in an architecture, briefing status, and executing the test from the X-Lab
+ Work with the customer to understand the needs of the test and find ways to satisfy those needs within the resource constraints
+ Responsible for configuration management and control of test resources, articles, and tools for data collection during the event
+ Serve as the liaison to other C2BMC test participants and MDA/BCT test managers
+ Coordinate with the project leads of various experiments to ensure seamless event execution across the entire mission
+ Develop and maintain the test architecture that includes all articles under test, and will also develop any supplemental procedures required to ensure successful execution
+ Responsible for maintaining configuration management of a set of lab machines dedicated to specific development activities
+ Must understand systems engineering, systems design, and development. Possess 8 or more years of experience in a closely related environment, with good experience and expertise in systems-of-systems definition and integration
Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a related discipline and 6 years of experience, or 12 years of related experience instead of a degree may be considered
+ Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued **Secret** security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
+ Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs
+ Experience with planning and managing flight, ground test, and Warfighter events
+ Experience with the operation of C2BMC, knowledge of the system configuration, experience with the system operation, how to navigate display screens, and the concept of system operations
+ Experience with missile defense systems used in missile defense, such as:
+ **AN/TPY2**
+ **SBIRS/BOA**
+ **Aegis**
+ **THAAD**
+ **Patriot**
+ **SBX** , including their operational characteristics
+ Must have experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions using NT or similar processes and methods
+ Must have demonstrable ability to develop briefings and convey complex ideas in writing, be comfortable working in a team environment, be a quick study, a hard worker, and interested and capable of adapting to changing technology
+ Must possess strong verbal/written communications skills enabling him/her to work effectively in a small technical team environment, and to accurately represent test perspectives to C2BMC system architects, software designers, other testers, test support personnel, the Government customer, and personnel in other MDA programs
+ Ability to analyze high-level needs and, through a structured and logical approach, refine the need into an integrated set of requirements that leads to a fielded product
+ Ability to lead portions of the activity and direct the activities of fellow engineers
+ Communicate effectively and present technical approaches and findings
+ Able to write and implement engineering plans within a project
+ Previous experience should demonstrate the technical skills and position responsibilities cited here
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Current and Active in-scope DoD-Issued TS/SCI clearance is highly desired
+ Position is based near Colorado Springs at Schriever Space Force Base, but infrequent travel to customer sites (e.g., EUCOM, CENTCOM) and contractor sites (e.g., Huntsville) may be required
+ Experience in Missile Defense Systems is highly desired
+ Non-standard work hours are highly likely during event execution

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:
Salary Range: $113,500.00 - $170,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
