What will you be doing in this role:

The BMET I performs repair, preventive maintenance and calibration of medical equipment. Troubleshoots basic electronic circuits under close supervision; evaluates and resolves operational problems involving medical equipment at the request of clinical staff and department management; completes and records all required maintenance documentation; serves in on-call rotation.

+ Adjusts, calibrates, lubricates, performs operational verification, tests electrical safety, and other tasks to ensure optimal performance and safety of medical equipment.

+ Maintains an accurate and complete inventory of medical devices and systems in assigned areas

+ Schedules and documents work performed as directed by the department

+ Communicates clearly with users in patient care areas during rounds or while investigating reported malfunctions.

+ Reviews and/or orders parts and materials so as to insure right items are ordered at right time from the most effective source and that prudent stock levels are maintained

+ Works with department management to identify and improve key skill areas necessary for career growth.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

6-months experience as biomedical electronics technician and familiarity with a limited but growing range of patient care and/or laboratory equipment. (preferred)

Knowledge of wired and wireless networks related to the medical devices.

Demonstrates the ability to understand and use basic biomedical test equipment.

Demonstrates a basic level of electronics knowledge and troubleshooting skills.

Demonstrates an understanding of the operation and service routines for basic clinical electronic equipment.

Educational/Certificate Requirements:

Biomedical Technology Diploma from accredited program required.

Associate or Bachelor Degree in Electronic/Biomedical Engineering or related field (preferred)
