Description of Work

This position supports higher level Technicians and Engineers in the Marion Resident Engineer's Office in functional areas such as construction inspection, surveying, materials sampling, testing and construction traffic control. Position requires the performance of a wide variety of standardized and non-standardized tests and assignments in compiling, analyzing, computing, editing, and processing field data. Employee must be proficient in record keeping. Work may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Qualified applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:
+ Experience in conducting inspections for compliance with contract agreements, standards/codes, and specifications.
+ Experience in maintaining standard daily records and reports.
+ Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
+ Knowledge and skilled in the use of computer equipment, iPad, and software.
+ Experience in performing inspection, sampling, and testing of materials (concrete, asphalt density) to ensure compliance with industry specifications.
Additional Expectations: General knowledge of surveying and methods, equipment and materials used in highway construction; general knowledge of mathematical functions, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, contract provisions, specifications and inspection procedures, ability to take good notes and good communication skills. Safety toe shoes required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate’s degree in civil engineering technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
