    Position Overview

    The **UAM Reliability Services Foreperson** is responsible for ensuring that projects meet metrics related to safety, quality, production, and compliance. This position involves leading a team of crew members and serving as a subject matter expert in the field. Key responsibilities include allocating and managing resources to meet project deadlines, performing daily physical tasks, and frequent travel. This position supports the inspection, restoration, and enhancement of utility infrastructure. This position is a leadership role, working in a field environment.

    Job Duties

    • Responsible for ensuring that the project meets metrics related to safety, quality, production, and compliance.

    • Responsible for the team’s performance and development.

    • Responsible for the team’s goal setting, safety, quality, and time management.

    • Ensure larger, more complex issues are communicated to the Project Manager.

    • Responsible for team’s time and attendance, hours reporting, and accuracy.

    • Serve as a mentor to team members to enhance their understanding of utility pole inspection and restoration best practices and client requirements.

    • Partner with the Safety Team to conduct required safety programs and investigations. Submit required documentation.

    • Oversee daily utility pole inspections and reliability tasks, ensuring that team members perform their duties efficiently and safely.

    • Provide daily support to their team by addressing and resolving day-to-day issues and problems.

    • Serve as a front-line coach for the team by providing on-the-job training, skill development, and ongoing performance feedback.

    • Communicate daily progress, issues, and needs of the crew to supervisors.

    • Arrange and manage travel accommodations for crew members.

    • Hold regular safety meetings.

    • Ensure all safety protocols and regulations are followed on-site.

    • Assist in the hiring, selection, and onboarding of new team members as needed.

    • Carry out safety inspections to verify compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

    • Conduct daily quality control (QC) inspections to ensure utility pole inspection and restoration work comply with project specifications and standards.

    • Operate a company vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.

    • Participate in the preparation of poles for treatment, including assessing the pole surface and applying preservatives.

    • Navigate to designated utility pole locations using GPS and other navigation tools.

    • Utilize technology, including iPads, cameras, and GIS software, for accurate data collection and documentation in the field.

    • Conduct inspections of utility poles to assess their condition and determine the need for treatment and restoration.

    • Utilize handheld equipment such as drills, tensioners, and crimpers.

    • Excavate holes around utility poles as required for site preparation.

    • Backfill holes upon completion of work.

    • Assist in the installation of steel trusses, utilizing pneumatic equipment.

    • Perform strenuous physical activities, including extensive walking, lifting, and carrying heavy equipment.

    • Maintain cleanliness and order at job sites including clean-up tasks.

    • Navigate to designated utility pole locations using GPS and other navigation tools.

    • Professionally interact with landowners to ensure clear communication and understanding of site activities.

    • Conduct oneself professionally in public settings while representing Davey Resource Group.

    • Keep up to date with technological advancements and integrate new tools into daily operations.

    • Ensure the proper care and maintenance of any vehicle and equipment assigned including regular inspections, maintenance checks, and prompt reporting of any issues to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel.

    • React safely and appropriately in emergency situations.

    • Report and respond timely and accurately to the supervisor.

    • Participate in employee and professional training events as assigned.

    • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (75-100%) as required by project demands

    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    • Follow all company policies, procedures, and work rules.

    Qualifications

    • **Required:** Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work with limited direct supervision.

    • **Required:** Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, influence, and direct team members. Exhibits a growth mindset of continuous improvement and learning.

    • **Required:** Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, anticipate consequences, and implement resources.

    • **Required:** Demonstrated knowledge of utility infrastructure such as electric hazard identification, electric equipment identification, or communication equipment identification capability.

    • **Required:** Demonstrated job proficiency in pole inspection and restoration to the extent that one can train and develop others.

    • **Required:** Demonstrated experience in adhering to best practices for working with utility poles and related infrastructure.

    • **Required:** Demonstrated ability in identifying issues and implementing effective solutions in pole inspection and restoration processes.

    • **Required:** Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a field setting.

    • **Required:** Valid driver’s license along with a clean Motor Vehicle Report. Must pass the Davey Driver’s Safety Course.

    • **Required:** Must be able to obtain a pesticide license if working in a state that requires it.

    • **Required:** Ability to use electronic devices and technological tools in the field, including iPads, cameras, and GIS software. Ability to use maps and navigation tools.

    • **Required:** Effectively and clearly communicate in a one-on-one or group setting. Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and mentorship to new employees and collaborate effectively with team members. Draft intelligible, professional, and accurate correspondence in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.

    • **Required:** Demonstrated ability to accurately and efficiently follow detailed instructions while operating safely.

    • **Required:** English language skills.

    • **Required:** Experience in Google Workspace.

    • **Preferred:** Basic understanding of Spanish is helpful.
