    Job Description

    This specialist position functions as a Risk and Compliance Specialist within Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection

     

    supporting the enterprise with the Security Accreditation Process (MiSAP). This position is responsible for development,

    incorporation and administration of complex enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) workflows, data, new

    process integration for the Security Accreditation Process. This position requires an extremely high degree of technical

     

    skills, initiative and creativity and must keep current with new and emerging, regulations, standards, technologies, and

     

    practices in applications, operating systems, and cloud technologies in order to provide for the needs of the state. This role

     

    also serves as IT Security technical advisor to Executive Branch agencies and a team lead to liaisons assigned to those

     

    agencies for validation and implementation of new and updated compliance standards and requirements for enterprise

     

    Security Accreditation Process using the Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) tool and process.

     

    This position must be able to function with a minimum of direct supervision and requires a high degree of direct contact

     

    with department program managers and DTMB project and technology oversight groups and makes recommendations for

     

    improvements and alternative strategies where needed considering the current security landscape of State’s infrastructure.

     

    This position also requires research and review of industry best practices for information security GRC processes, industry

     

    recognized security frameworks, and familiarity with the techniques required to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and

     

    availability of sensitive information. The specialist position will provide expert level oversight and training agency-wide to

     

    ensure security risk assessments and analysis are thorough and complete.

    Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.

    Experience

    Information Technology Specialist 14

     

    Three years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst 12.

     

    Alternate Education and Experience

     

    An associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, mathematics or equivalent; and at least two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician and four years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst 12.

    At least an educational level typically acquired through the completion of high school and at least three years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician and four years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst 12.

     

    Additional Requirements and Information

    Sign-On Bonus:

    This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $2,500. Up to $1,250 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

    Candidates selected for this position must complete the Michigan State Police background check. This extensive background check requires fingerprinting for state and federal criminal background records. The background check search will include, but is not limited to, arrests, criminal charges, criminal convictions, and any information regarding contact with a criminal justice agency.
