Job Summary and Qualifications

1. Serves as an expert resource to Infection Preventionists and other MHS departments.

2. Implements the MHS wide implementation of infection surveillance and prevention program by actively participating in system level committees.

3. Analyses complex infection prevention and performance improvement data, develops solutions, makes recommendation and implements changes to prevent healthcare associated infections and improve patient safety.

4. Oversees the review and revision of existing MHS infection prevention policies to maintain currency and compliance with published guidelines and best practices, where applicable, with emphasis on impact on critical hospital and system operations and functions.

5. Coordinates with other MHS departments to facilitate implementation and evaluation of the effectiveness of the infection prevention program in order to maintain continual readiness in meeting regulatory and accreditation requirements

6. Demonstrates a strong knowledge and understanding of local, state and federal regulation and guidelines regarding infection prevention matters, as well as requirements by accrediting and licensing bodies.

What qualifications you will need:

1. Mandatory: Seven years of infection prevention (Epidemiologist) experience

2. Mandatory: Bachelor's degree in public health, nursing, epidemiology or other health-care related field (e.g, biology, chemistry, biostatistics), or four years of infection prevention experience with a Master's degree in a health care related field.

3. Mandatory: Two years of recent infection prevention experience in an acute care hospital setting.

4. Mandatory: Working knowledge of statistics and epidemiological principles.

5. Mandatory: Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, power point & graphic display programs, as well as a level of comfort with learning and adapting to new programs.

6. Prefer: Post-graduate courses in epidemiology, infection prevention or disease control.

7. Prefer: Completion of CDC or APIC sponsored infection prevention training.

8. Prefer: Supervisory and managerial experience.

9. Mandatory: Certification in Infection Prevention & Control

10. Mandatory: You must be willing to add more skills to your skill sets. You must want to learn more about quality.

11. Prefer: An RN
