    University Associate Dean for Transfer and Articulation

    POSITION DETAILS

    The University Associate Dean for Transfer and Articulation will play a critical leadership role within the Office of Academic Affairs at The City University of New York (CUNY) system, overseeing all aspects of student transfer across the system’s 25 colleges.

     

    Reporting to the University Dean for Academic Programming, the University Associate Dean will be instrumental in bridging gaps between two-year and four-year institutions, addressing systemic challenges, and driving policy enhancements that create more efficient and student-centered transfer experiences. By fostering collaboration among faculty, department chairs, academic leaders, and key administrative offices, the University Associate Dean will lead initiatives that remove obstacles to credit transfer, enhance academic advising structures, and promote institutional accountability in supporting transfer students.

    Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    + Provide vision and strategic leadership for the University's system-wide transfer initiatives.

    + Collaborate with faculty, department chairs, and academic leaders to ensure curriculum alignment across institutions.

    + Ensure all academic policies and procedures support the implementation of seamless transfer across the University.

    + Work closely with the Office of Enrollment Management, Computer Information Systems (CIS), Office of Student Affairs, Office of Faculty Affairs, campus transfer liaisons, and other units that intersect with transfer student support.

    + Facilitate the use and development of CUNY Transfer Explorer and other tools to support transfer students.

    + Monitor transfer across institutions to identify obstacles and address them

    + Develop and implement strategies to improve transfer student retention, academic progress, graduation, and post-graduate success.

    + Champion transfer initiative progress to key stakeholders.

    + Assess the effectiveness of transfer policies and practices, making recommendations for improvements to strengthen the University’s Transfer Initiative.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    NOTE:

    Until further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum:

    This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

    Preferred:

    + Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) or equivalent in a related discipline.

    + Master’s degree in higher education administration, public policy, student affairs, or a related field.

    + At least 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, with a strong focus on transfer student success, academic policy development, curriculum alignment, or enrollment management.

    + Demonstrated experience working on system-wide transfer initiatives within a large, multi-campus public university system.

    + Proven ability to lead complex projects, drive policy change, and collaborate effectively with faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders.

    + Extensive experience working on system-wide transfer initiatives.

    + Demonstrated knowledge of transfer credit evaluation and articulation planning tools such as CUNY Transfer Explorer (T-Rex), Transferology, TES (Transfer Evaluation System), and FlightPath.

    + Strong leadership, collaboration and interpersonal skills.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    + Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students.

    + Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced and complex academic environment.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    The salary range is **$165,000 – $170,000** , commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience.
