Program Manager Industry Connections - 250161 : KNW-B30 Description Job Summary The overall purpose of this position is to manage technical programs, participant relationships and issues within IEEE SA Industry Connections consensus building groups/ecosystems. Industry Connections provides a platform for stakeholders to collaborate on standards related activities. These activities are typically associated with emerging technologies, technology policy issues and other multi-stakeholder interests that can be incubated towards future standards proposals, standards related reports and white papers, events and other relevant activities supporting emerging technology communities within IEEE SA programs. This position serves as a front-line resource to identify/alert IEEE to potential legal liability, communicating/implementing of policy changes to committees (i.e., development of training material); identifies opportunities to expedite the process through possible changes in policy, tools and training. The Program Manager may engage with politically charged and/or or high-profile groups; participates in the SA governance of Industry Connections and associated committees. This role reports to the Director, Industry Connections and does not manage direct reports. This role requires interest in emerging technology issues, strong organizational skills and excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with volunteers across many disciplines and geographies. This position works under moderate level of supervision and may request vendor bids and make recommendations for projects that require external resources. This role has no direct reports. Key Responsibilities Management of Industry Connections Process and Committees Develops/employs experience-based knowledge to engage consensus building groups/ecosystems Provides accurate, timely, proactive and professional direction to pre-standardization committees in such matters as procedures, meeting management, tools, legal, technology and global issues that are consistent with IEEE-SA practices and policy, including internal (departmental) practices and messaging Ensures that due process is met during the pre-standardization process by monitoring developments, researching related complaints/issues from and about committees and cultivating good relationships with participants Serves as a front-line resource to identify/alert IEEE to potential legal liability Establishes positive relationships with emerging technology communities to assist in the incubation of ideas that may lead to new IEEE SA standards and related products, including effective conflict, issue and problem resolution Supports requirements for tools to reduce the administrative burden on collaboration and consensus community members, resulting in a positive view of IEEE Coordinates agreements with external entities where applicable Participates on special project teams on an as-needed basis to address potential changes, issues or new policy and procedures to enhance the Industry Connections program Anticipates and accommodates the needs of a globally and technically diverse membership Proactively supports IC team engagement with industry leaders to identify potential new IEEE-SA revenue generating businesses and public imperative opportunities Collaborates and coordinates with SA practice leads and IEEE technical societies as needed to grow collaboration amongst participants Manages the finances of assigned groups, where applicable, including invoicing, and profit and loss determination, and provide timely and accurate forecasts Fulfills other associated tasks, as assigned Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field or equivalent experience; Technical degree a plus Req Work Experience 4-7 years relevant experience with a focus on program or project management in a technical environment Skills and Requirements Must have strong project management skills, excellent time management, organizational and professional interpersonal/communication skills, the ability to work well under deadlines, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Should possess familiarity of engineering and technical industries Familiarity of the value and use of standards in global marketplaces Prior experience directly engaging with customers/members Ability to sense issues, inappropriate behavior and activities and communicate/escalate effectively Ability to exercise sound judgment, while parsing through complex issues, with minor supervision Must have the ability to provide guidance to peers and program activity members Demonstrated experience in ensuring adherence to processes and policies, as well as best practices Experience developing successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and working with a diverse, global community Situational awareness and ability to escalate conflict/conflict resolution in the areas of oversight Advanced written and oral communications skills and sound presentation skills Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge and use of databases and online/web-based interfaces Valid passport or the ability to obtain a valid passport within 6 months of the date of hire; Occasional travel required Other Requirements: As defined in IEEE Policies, individuals currently serving on an IEEE board or committee are not eligible to apply.
