    About The Position

     

    The Engineer is responsible for performing design, engineering design studies, maintenance and project management activities for existing/new transmission lines above 100kV. This position requires handling multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.

    Key responsibilities include:

    + Perform design and engineering to establish safe design parameters that meet current design codes, evaluating and selecting structure and material types, designing wood structures, route selections for new lines, developing construction specifications and complete bid documents, directing drawing preparation and providing cost estimates.

    + Design activities shall also include evaluating existing lines for National Electric Safety Code (NESC) compliance, safety guidelines, upgrades and modifications; provide expert witness testimony, and keeping current with latest technology.

    + Develop engineering solutions, cost and schedule estimates, and preliminary designs associated with initial development and budgeting of projects.

    + Develop project scoping documents, basis of design documents and project control documents for projects within and outside of Ameren's service territory.

    + Effectively utilize project management tools and software to manage costs, maintain schedules, track project progress, and manage the transmission line design projects.

    + Perform project management responsibilities as necessary for overall project cost and schedule; coordinating activities with other departments and outside companies such as: real estate, drafting, other engineering groups, line construction crews, contractors, surveying and consulting firms.

    + Perform detailed design and work with drafting to complete drawings, prepare specifications for equipment and construction contracts, finalize cost and schedule estimates, and assist or lead in the planning and coordination of projects as required.

    + Facilitate acquiring permits to perform construction activities.

    + Review external customers plans a specifications to ensure continued safe operation of Ameren's Transmission system.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university required. Civil Engineering preferred. New grads will be considered. Prior experience in Transmission Line Design engineering preferred. EIT certification or commitment to actively pursue one in Illinois and/or Missouri required. Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or commitment to actively pursue one in Illinois and/or Missouri required.

     

    * Technical career path level depends on candidates credentials.

    **In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate** :

     

    Good analytical, project management, multitasking, scheduling, communications, human relations, decision making and competent computer skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Willingness to keep abreast of current design standards and new technologies. Experienced engineers must have working knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).

    Ameren’s selection process includes a series of interviews and may include candidate testing and/or an individual aptitude or skill-based assessment. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

    Compensation Range:

    $69,300.00 - $168,000.00

     

    * This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant’s credentials.

     

    At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
