Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to lead and manage key financial operations for our organization in Richmond, Virginia. This role involves overseeing a team of accounting and administrative staff to ensure accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with internal controls. The ideal candidate will provide strategic advice to leadership while maintaining the integrity of financial processes.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise and mentor a team of seven accounting and administrative professionals, ensuring high performance and efficiency.
• Prepare and oversee accurate financial statements and reports to support organizational decision-making.
• Develop and monitor budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial stability.
• Coordinate and manage internal and external audits to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the organization's financial integrity.
• Provide strategic financial advice and insights to leadership to support long-term planning.
• Reconcile accounts, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations, to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Manage month-end close processes, including journal entries and general ledger reviews.
• Utilize accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP to streamline financial operations.
• Create and maintain financial models and reports using advanced Microsoft Excel techniques. Requirements • Proven experience in accounting, with a strong background in financial reporting and budgeting.
• Proficiency in account reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create complex formulas and financial models.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and audit processes.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team effectively.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is a plus.
