Brief Position Overview
Head Coach of NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis program at Montana State University Bobcat Athletics. Position is responsible for the organization and administration of all phases of the MSU Women’s Tennis Program including coaching, recruitment, scheduling, team travel, budget management, academic monitoring, supervising the assistant coach position(s), fundraising, among other duties as assigned.

General Statement
The Head Women’s Tennis Coach reports directly to the Deputy Athletic Director for Internal Operations/ CFO and is responsible for the organization and administration of all phases of MSU’s NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis program. Duties and Responsibilities
+ Manage the Division I Women’s Tennis Program and its student-athletes and staff, including all team operations and administration.
+ Organize, coordinate and lead team practices and individual student-athlete practices.
+ Scheduling of competitive tournaments and matches for fall and spring seasons.
+ Team travel operations and execution.
+ Scouting and analyzing opponents, preparing match plans and on-court coaching.
+ Evaluation and recruitment of prospective student-athletes, including on/off campus visits and developing long term recruitment plans and roster management strategies.
+ Oversee academic monitoring of student-athletes.
+ Hiring, training, supervising and evaluating assistant coach(es), and/or volunteers.
+ Sustainable budget management of the women’s tennis program and timely administration of budget transactions.
+ Coordinate, organize, and implement fundraising initiatives in support of the women’s tennis program.
+ Interacting positively with Bozeman tennis community at Bobcat Anderson Tennis Center and developing strong community relationships.
+ Adhering strictly to MSU , Big Sky Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
+ All other duties as assigned by the Deputy Athletic Director for Internal Operations/ CFO and/or Director of Athletics, in pursuit of the goal of developing and maintaining a successful Women’s Tennis program.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
+ Collegiate coaching or collegiate playing experience.
+ Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete success including monitoring academic programs, nutrition, strength and conditioning program and student-athlete conduct.
+ Administrative, financial and supervisory experience operating a tennis facility, including, but not limited to, such things as coordinating facility maintenance, hiring staff and pros, creating and managing membership programs.
+ Experience managing a budget.
+ Evidence of interacting positively with student-athletes, parents, colleagues, alumni, community members and other constituents, with a strong understanding of the importance of interaction with all levels of support groups and fundraising efforts.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ Five years of collegiate coaching experience.
+ Division I coaching experience.
+ Experience interacting with a variety of constituents (i.e., the public, boosters, fans, administration, faculty, student-athletes, recruits, parents). Public relations experience including public speaking, press interviews, and public appearances including radio and television appearances.
+ Knowledge of and commitment to BSC and NCAA Division I rules, specifically regarding compliance, recruiting and academics.
+ Demonstrated ability in: evaluating prospective student-athletes, management of academic programs, on-court coaching, and counseling student-athletes.
+ Experience developing and motivating student-athletes for athletic and academic success, while protecting academic integrity.
+ Experience promoting student-athlete welfare (health and safety issues).
The Successful Candidate Will
+ Have excellent communication skills, be a positive motivator, have demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities, and be able to clearly articulate a coherent plan and vision to build and enhance the MSU Women’s Tennis program.
+ Demonstrate successful ability to recruit student-athletes to an NCAA Division I program including the ability to promote MSU -Bozeman.
+ Have impeccable integrity with a thorough commitment to NCAA , BSC , and MSU regulations.
+ Demonstrate an expertise in public relations, including an ability to motivate and communicate effectively with students, fans, boosters, etc., involved with MSU via excellent written and verbal communications skills.
+ Possess administrative skills, a knowledge of budgeting practices, and an ability to effectively apply that knowledge to the Women’s Tennis budget.
+ Knowledge of Women’s Tennis theories and fundamentals and an ability to teach and coach Women’s Tennis, resulting in developing and maintaining a winning program.
+ Be self-motivated, make sound judgments, and be able to relate to and have a high interest in young people.
