    About Shriver Job Corps Center

     

    The Shriver Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Advanced Computer Systems Administration, Advanced Transportation Service Worker, various Computer Sciences, Carpentry, Automotive Maintenance, Millwright Welding, Office Administration and Security & Protective Services.

     

    Our 21-acre campus is nestled away minutes off of RTE 2, and 2A on Jackson Road in Devens MA. We service between 200 and 300 dorm students ages 16 to 24 years old at any given time with rolling admissions weekly. Our staff value the student experience and often cite the personal impact of what we do as a major factor of employment satisfaction. In addition, we have amenities that are open for staff to utilize such as a gym, basketball courts, full service cafeteria and more.

    Position Summary:

    Responsible to develop and facilitate the Center’s alcohol, drug and tobacco prevention program. Educates and counsels students to reduce and prevent drug-related separations from the program. Develops individualized case management plans to enhance student retention and success. Ensures confidentiality of sensitive information and compliance with all HIPAA

    Responsibilities

    + Develops and implements alcohol, drug and tobacco prevention activities and integrates services into Center’s programmatic functions.

    + Develops and coordinates community resources for educating students on substance use and abuse

    + Administers Center’s drug testing program to promote a drug-free environment

    + Provide comprehensive and individualized case management, ensuring student progress, retention and completion of the Job Corps program.

    + Establish supportive / mentoring relationships with students throughout their enrollment and provides substance abuse counseling and education.

    + Conduct individual and group counseling as needed

    ** McNamara O’Hare Service Contract Act (SCA) (https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/government-contracts/service-contracts) workers receive premiums each paycheck to be used toward Health, Dental and Vision insurance premiums. If covered by spousal or parental insurance plan the premiums are deposited into a retirement plan

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

     

    + High School Diploma or equivalent required.

    + Bachelor’s degree preferred

    + Valid, active, unrestricted in-state license or certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling.

    + A minimum of one year of substance abuse counseling experience required.
